World Tai Ji Day

FEMA celebrated World Tai Ji Day on April 25th with 19 students from 2 classes ranging in age from 7 – 40+ years old practicing movement from the Yang 24 form. We worked on balance (ding bu), the opening move for Yang 24, parting the wild horse’s mane and repulse the monkey. We incorporated and practiced Qigong exercises as well. Newer students of Tai Ji did a wonderful job incorporating balance, weight transfer and alignment with movement. As all of the FEMA students study external martial arts, their ability to learn and translate Tai Ji basics into their bodies was smooth! For those of us that study and practice Tai Ji, we loved the opportunity to practice and dig into the root principles that Tai Ji offers – balance, alignment,.. And the shaky legs that can come from it....The practice hones our bodies, minds and spirit. We are thankful to have this Tai Ji practice in our daily life and offered through our Head Instructor, Shifu/Sensei Kore Grate.

New addition to FEMA family

FEMA would like to welcome the newest member to the community. Alexandria Marie was born to Megan and Ryan on January 4th, 2009.

She has already mastered the heel kick and is currently working on perfecting her use of the Voice finger of self defense.

The FEMA Girls teachers are eagerly waiting for her to formerly join classes (it's going to be a while).
